What is a family beach photoshoot in Maui like?
Sessions typically take place during golden hour near sunset, when the light is softest. You'll get gentle guidance so kids feel comfortable and parents can relax — the goal is natural, candid images rather than stiff, posed ones.
Who will actually photograph our photoshoot?
Your session will always be personally photographed by Laurence, Jude, Max, or Solomon Balter—never an outside contractor. We back every booking with our 100% Family-Operated Quality Guarantee.
What if our kids don't cooperate or get fussy?
We design our sessions around real family play rather than strict posing. For families traveling with toddlers, we highly recommend our Sunrise session—it captures soft light and is perfect for toddlers who wake up early, avoiding meltdown risks.

Every gallery is hand-edited with care (no automated AI shortcuts) and delivered in under 48 hours so you can share your memories while still on vacation.

How much does a family beach photoshoot cost?
It depends on session length, number of people and the type of session. Sunrise sessions start at $299; sunsets start at $399 and weddings run higher. Current pricing and availability are on our Sessions & Pricing page.
When is the best time of day for photos?
Golden hour — the last 60 to 90 minutes before sunset — creates soft skin tones, reduced shadows and a cinematic glow that's especially flattering for families with young children. A few of our sessions are also offered at sunrise for the same quality of light with fewer crowds.
What should we wear?
Neutral and earth-toned colors photograph best: soft blues, sand, beige, sage, muted greens and warm pastels. Avoid bright neon colors, large logos, or fully matching outfits — coordinated (not identical) clothing gives the most timeless look. Check our What to Wear Guide for more tips.
How many people can be included?
Immediate and extended family are both welcome. Multi-generation sessions are popular — just let us know your group size in advance so we can plan enough time and space for both group and individual combinations.
Do you help choose the beach location?
Yes. We select the best location based on light, wind, crowd levels and accessibility, working across beaches throughout Wailea, Makena and South Maui to match your family's needs. Our favorite is in front of the Andaz resort in Wailea for sunset, or Maluaka Beach in Makena.
How far in advance should we book?
Booking early ensures availability during golden hour and gives you time to plan.
Are these sessions good for vacations, proposals, honeymoons, babymoon and reunions?
Yes — vacations, reunions, anniversaries, romantic proposals, honeymoons, maternity and birthday milestones are our specialty. Many families and couples choose to document their time in Maui as a lasting keepsake of being together.
Do you photograph families staying outside Wailea?
Our Turquoise + Water session, for example, is located near the airport. While based in Wailea, we work throughout South Maui and nearby areas depending on light and conditions.
