The Andaz Maui at Wailea sits on fifteen oceanfront acres along Mokapu Beach — and that same stretch of sand, just past the resort’s boardwalk, is where we photograph families every evening. There’s no rental car to arrange and no drive across the island. When your session time comes, you simply walk down to the beach, and we take care of the rest.
For guests staying at the Andaz, that ease is the whole point. Spend your afternoon at the pool, the spa, or Ka’ana Kitchen, get ready in the comfort of your own room, and stroll out to meet us as the light turns gold.
Family-Run, All-Inclusive, No In-House Markup
When you book photography directly through hotel desk concierges, quiet middleman markups are frequently added to the session cost. We work independently as a local family business. When you book directly with us, you receive our full, uncompromised artistic focus and straightforward pricing.
Our sessions include high-resolution digital image files, full print rights, and high-end color finishing with no hidden gallery unlock fees. We deliver your complete, edited gallery within about 48 hours, so you can share memories while your Maui vacation is still fresh. And every session is photographed personally by one of the Balters, never an outside contractor.

Where do you photograph — right in front of the Andaz?
Yes. Mokapu Beach, directly in front of the resort, is our home base — we photograph there most evenings of the week. For Andaz guests that means no drive and no meeting point to find: you walk down from your room and we are already there.
Why photograph at the Andaz rather than another Wailea beach?
The lava rock. Most Wailea beaches are open sand with nothing to sit on, which limits you to standing poses. The rocks in front of the Andaz give us natural places to seat a family, so we can vary the poses across a session instead of repeating the same line-up in different spots.
What is the shot between the two large lava rocks?
It is the frame we are known for, and the one on the front page of this site. The two large rocks in front of the Andaz sit far enough apart to hold a family between them and frame the sunset behind. We photograph it on most sessions here — it is the single strongest reason we keep coming back to this beach.
Can we have dinner nearby afterwards?
Easily. Morimoto Maui is at the Andaz, steps from where we photograph, so a lot of families book a table for straight after the session while everyone is still dressed for it. Sunset sessions end at sunset, which lines up well with a dinner reservation.
Do I have to book through the resort’s concierge?
No. We’re an independent, family-run studio, so you book directly with us at one all-inclusive price. Nothing is added on top — no concierge fee and no commission.
How much is a session, and what’s included?
Every session is all-inclusive: one price, quoted when you book, covers the shoot and every one of your naturally edited, high-resolution images, delivered in a private online gallery within about 48 hours.
What time will we meet?
We photograph around sunset, when the light is at its best, so your exact start time shifts with the season. We’ll confirm the evening’s sunset time and where to meet as soon as you book.
